The notes to the concert's program suggest that the reason for Haydn composing the Palindrome Symphony is unknown. However, as the symphony is composed in 1772 and as 1771 was the only "palindrome year" that Haydn would witness in his life time (1661 and 1881 being the other nearest palindrome years), perhaps Haydn would simply demonstrate that palindromes are also possible in music. |

Concert in celebration of the church organ's 40th anniversary. In 1981, when Evald was Gurre Church's organist, he contributed to the organ's design, which is inspired by the Cavaillé-Coll organ at Jesus Church in Valby, Copenhagen. The organ (by Krohn) is one of the few Danish organs based on French romantic organ tradition. Gurre is the village of Gurre Castle, the inspiration of Schöenberg's Gurre-Lieder. |
